The Forgotten Seeds

Some time ago, don't ask me when, I went to the store and bought some seeds so that I could have beautiful flowers around the yard. Since our yard wasn't very colorful, this sounded like a great idea. When I got home, I put the seeds on a shelf thinking that there would be time in a few days. A season went by, then two, then it was cold. I discovered the seeds one day still on the shelf. The package was dusty. It took me quite a while to remember that these were supposed to have been planted at least 9 months before. The one thing that struck me immediately was that I wasn't able to enjoy the flowers that those seeds represented because I had done nothing to help them grow. They were still in the same package that they came in. Nothing had changed

The other day I went looking for my Bible. It was dusty. Of course, the first thing that came to mind were the seeds. Thinking back, it had been several days since I had read anything from it. What happened? My day isn't all that busy. The kids are still in school most of the day. Then I realized that different things crept in and began to take over my time. It doesn't really matter what they are. It could be work, family, church, the neighbors, the latest project, ministry work. It's amazing the things that can draw you away from prayer and reading your Bible. The time was stolen never to be replaced.

Boy, that started to weigh heavily on my heart. But our Father is greater! He showed me that you can start where you are right this minute. No matter what you have or have not done, you can begin right here. The Father will not hold it against you for not reading today or praying today if you will go to Him. Run to Him instead of the human action of running from Him. Enjoy the day by talking to the Lord. Believe me, it is worth your time.
