God's Resting Place

There is a time when all things must be put aside, when the world must take a back seat. For a Christian, this is vital to his or her walk with the Lord. Sometimes the world, family, job or whatever else intrudes to the point that we cannot seem to get back to a time for God. We have gotten the blessings, the house, car, the financial overflow. Some of you will not have received your blessings yet. Your focus is on getting the need taken care of. You are frustrated because the answers seem to take forever or never show up. You get discouraged so easily these days. Nothing works out the way you planned or prayed for.

Our lives are so full either because the blessings and fulfilling of needs came or because they didn't. Now we cannot find the time to pray. Too busy paying the bills. Work, work, work. Play, play, play. The kids need to get to school. We need to get dressed and ready for work or school. Alarm rings too quickly in the morning. We are too exhausted to take the time to stop and listen. The world is turning faster and faster. When is all this going to stop? When do I get to take time to breathe?

For years, the body of Christ has sought after God's hand on their lives. They reach for the blessings and the grace to make it through the day. Each sits in prayer, when they have a minute to themselves, in the car on the way to work or school. They are looking for God to give them guidance, a blessing, His hand on themselves or another life for healing or strength. These are things that God has said that we are able to do. We are the body of Christ, inheritors. We are the children of the living God, made whole through the sacrificial death of Jesus, the Anointed One. Is this you?

But now, there comes a time when these things must be set behind us. The world, family, friends, the phone, the washing, the job, rent, car, the television, radio or whatever distracts you from prayer and the peace that passes all understanding, needs to be put aside for a while. As children of God, we must understand that there comes a time when the THINGS of the world have no meaning to us. That our reality is in another place, outside of time. Our Love, our reason for existing is on higher ground, Holy ground.

Children of God, the Lord has been wanting our attention since we were born. We have sought His hand. Now we must seek His Face. He expects us to come boldly to the throne of God but how can we do this if we are not in the presence of the Lord in the first place? We must seek out our Father simply to enjoy time with Him, not for what He can do for us, not for some reward to us, not for benefits and blessings.

Hebrews 4:1, "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it."

Have you come short of entering the rest of God? I don't mean that we are to find all the rest of God as if He were in pieces. We are to enter into His resting place, the secret place that God has especially for you and you alone, that place where He is in charge of giving you the peace that you have been looking for for so long.

Hebrews 4:9-12, "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."

Did you notice here that as we enter into that place, we are ceasing from our own works? It is a time of refreshing and peace, of hope and love. We must strive to get to that place because there are benefits to ourselves but, more importantly, it pleases God. The Father wants to have a fellowship, a relationship with His children simply because they love Him.

Would you like it if the only reason someone wants to visit you is so that you can give them something? Surely not. God is no different. He is looking for the love of His children. It is time to set aside the world and go to the Father's house to visit for no other reason than we miss seeing Him, for no other reason than we love Him. We should come to a place in our lives where nothing and noone is more important than our Lord. He deserves no less.

For those of you who do not know Jesus, please take the time to pray, asking forgiveness for your sins and then ask Him into your heart. He is waiting for you to do this. He loves you so much. There is no thing that you have done that He will not forgive. Jesus died so that you would have life. He is your Savior and Lord. Please talk to Him today. When you have prayed to Him, dust off that old Bible that you didn't want to read or get one however you can. One of the best places to start is the book of John in the New Testament. Please seek a church that preaches the Word of God (the Bible).

Enter into God's resting place today. The benefits are awesome!!
