The Frog in the Pot

No, this is not about froglegs. There is an urgency to get the Word out about Jesus these days, especially in the active Christian community. Things are coming together in a way that we have never seen before. Admittedly, I am not the most knowledgeable person on the new age movement. However, what I have seen is enough to make me very concerned about the next few years on this earth. Have you read any of the latest web pages that address this idea? There appear to be half-truths and outright lies embedded in the pages. The danger comes when we accept them without question. Not only the New Age Movement is on the rise. Many cults are beginning to become alive and healthy. The church, for the most part, is ignoring this.

This brings to mind an old adage about the frog. If you put a frog in a pot of boiling water, he will quickly jump out. If, however, you put him in a pot of cold water he will stay because he feels no danger to himself. Then when the water boils, its too late. This is where we are today and if we do not get more concerned about our lives in the Lord Jesus, we will surely be the losers. We ARE those frogs in the water that's heating to the boiling point. Look around you. What do you see? There are wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes and pestilence, new diseases that we have no cures for, old diseases that we thought were long gone, famines. Well, that sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Matt. 24:6-8 "And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows."

All right, so why should we be concerned now? After all, we have had all of these things from the beginning. That is true but now there is an increased level beyond anything the world has ever seen or known. There are more wars, pestilence, famines, earthquakes and sorrow now than ever before. But because we are used to seeing it on the news and because we are used to reading it in the paper, it doesn't become the urgent thing that it should. That's because the water is getting hot very slowly. Jesus says that we have to watch out for these things. He says we have to be diligent in our looking to the skies. We must be about our Father's business. If we are not, there are dire consequences for us. We will be caught by surprise. The tragedy of September 11th, if nothing else, should have shown us about being caught by surprise. We must be diligent.

Matthew 24:42-44 "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."

What exactly does the Lord mean when He says to watch therefore? Jesus was answering questions put to Him by His disciples on the coming of the end of the age. His warnings are for us now. When He talks about watching therefore, He wants us to be careful not to get so involved in the daily workings of the world or so involved in our own personal lives, that we forget not only who we are but also why we are here. The Word is very clear that we are to witness of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is extremely important that we become diligent to do our jobs that the Lord has given to us, especially right now. But WHY right now? Because the end of the age is upon us and if the Christian family is not ever watchful, the end of time will come and we will not be ready.

Matthew 24:48-51 "But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.".

Are you ready to meet the Lord in the air? Have you done all you must do to serve the Lord? Is your life truly in order? These questions are some that you need to think about answering soon, if you haven't already. Am I overreacting? No, though there are those who will tell me that the end will not be here for a long time, that I am just another one of those people who panics about things. Let's look at that for a moment. If the end is really several centuries in the future, then why do we need to be prepared? It isn't necessary so we can get on with our daily lives and somewhere in the future generations, they can handle the end of the age, right? We don't have to be ready. We don't have to prepare. Do you see a danger here? What happens if those, who think that the end of the age is long into the future, are wrong? What if, for the sake of argument, its on the verge of happening right now? Then we have put off to tomorrow what we really needed to do today. And the result of that will be like the ones who say 'Lord, Lord' but will not be allowed into heaven. We have missed our chance to reap the rewards of the children of the Lord. Personally, I want to hear my Lord saying to me "well done thou good and faithful servant". Is that what you want to hear? Then we MUST get involved for the Lord. If we don't, then we will surely be the losers.
