It's Beginning To Rain. Wash The Dust Off Your Faith

In the hottest part of the summer, all I ever want to do is go find a handy sprinkler and get under it. Failing that, I will look for the nearest big glass of water. Why do we do that? Because, in my case, not only am I hot but dry as well. The heat sure does dehydrate a person. Have you ever felt like your mouth was as dry as a dusty desert with a sand storm blowing? Those storms sure do come up fast sometimes.

Sitting here in front of my computer, I asked the Lord "why am I so dry?" I had not had any inspiration for an article in a while. Nothing was coming to me at all. Usually, all I have to do is think of a verse of scripture or a topic and God supplies the rest. But not this time. What's wrong with me, Lord? I had no idea what was going on.

Gently, the Lord reminded me that I had not done many of the things that brought about those inspirational times. With a feeling of shame in my heart, I went to the Lord. I had not opened my Bible today nor had I talked with Him. He showed me that if I did not feed my spirit with the washing of the water in the Word, that I become dusty in my spirit.

In John 4:7-14, Jesus talks to a woman that no Jew would talk to, a Samaritan. He asks her for a drink from Jacob's well. Curious, she asks Him why He would be talking to her. He answers her by saying that she does not know Who she is talking to and if she did, she would never thirst again. Of course, she wants this because, in her mind, she will never have to come to the well anymore. But He has something else in mind.

John 4:13 Jesus answered and said to her, Whoever drinks of this water shall thirst again,
John 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

He talks about a well of water springing up into life. You cannot receive that by going to the faucet and getting a glass of water. Jesus gives us the well of water when we became part of His family. All we have to do now is drink up! So, today is the best day to start or continue getting those drinks. Grab a huge drink from the well!

If you have never asked the Lord Jesus into your heart, there is no time like the present. Perhaps you have decided that you have too many problems or done too many things wrong. That is not possible. Jesus told us that if we come to Him and ask, He will come into us and be with us always. Hey, just give Jesus a chance to help you. He is waiting for you right now! Ask Him to forgive you for all those things you have done, whether they were horrible or just some small thing. He will forgive you before you finish talking. In fact, He has already paid the price for those things you have done! Yes!! He did that by hanging on the cross two thousand years ago. He took all of our sins on Himself so that we would not have to pay that horrible price for what we have done. So, just ask. Then ask Him into your heart. You will NEVER be the same again!
