When I was growing up, and this will surely date me, one of the main topics of conversation was about UFOs. The government had started a hush, hush investigation called "Project Blue Book" in the 1950s and continued into the 1970s when they finally closed it down. Anyone goofy enough to say that they had seen or been taken by a UFO was labeled a nutcase. However, the stories kept coming. Then the big question came up. Are they here? Are they walking among us and we don't know it? From those questions arose many Sci-Fi movies, many of them "B" movies that are now favorites to an abundance of people. Yet the question remains even now. Are they walking among us?
The answer is a very hearty YES! Hold on. Before you label me a nutcase and stop reading, please take a moment to see what I mean. The very first alien among us is...me. I am one. I am not of this earth. Actually, I did not decide this. My Father in heaven did. He has told us, meaning the Body of Christ, that we are not of this world. We may live in it but we do not belong. Think about it a minute. Have you ever felt like you did not conform, sort of like you never quite fit in? Believe me, that feeling haunted me for years until I found out that my true home is in heaven and not here. That was such a relief. Because I learned that, this scripture made more sense.
Romans 12:2, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
We are told specifically not to be conformed to this world. What does that mean? The natural thing to do is go along with what the world believes is true. For instance, if you do not have a certain income level, the world tells you that you are poor, needy, destitute. The Lord tells us that we are prosperous. Whom should we believe? Frankly, I would rather be on God's side of this. When the bank account looks grim, the bills are flooding in, the car needs work, the paycheck does not appear to stretch far enough and the world says you have too much month at the end of your money, you are conforming to the world's idea IF you accept it. But GOD says that we do not have to live like that. He says that HE supplies all our needs according to HIS riches in Glory by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19). Hey, that doesn't really work, does it? My answer to you is...have you tried it God's way? If so, you know it does. If not, give it a shot. What do you have to lose? Your bills? "Someone will think I am a nut. My family already looks at me that way." So what? If you really try it and it works, you get prosperous. Then they come to you and want to know how you did it.
God tells us that we are in the world but not OF it. What does that mean? For example, I went on a missions trip to Mexico one Christmas. Our ministry delivered food, toys, clothing, and medical supplies to outlying areas that had had drought conditions to the point that they had no crops that year and for some years before that. Our group stayed with two adorable ladies who didn't speak a word of English. My spanish is very limited. We had an interpreter most of the time, thankfully. We actually bunked there for a couple of weeks. As much as I enjoyed where we stayed and wanted to fit in, I did not live there. I was in Mexico but not OF or FROM there. My home is in the United States.
In reality, none of us belong here on earth permanently. We are God's creation, expected to be here to learn, but we are residents of heaven where we started out. The problem is that, sadly, many folks do not believe that. By that definition, we are the aliens walking among those who conform to the world. God tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. To do that, we must pray and read our Bibles each day. I have found that if I do that, so many things that usually bother me, do not. So many things that used to overwhelm me, do not. If we will focus our hearts on the Lord, renewing our minds each day, He promises us that we become transformed. Into what? If God is to be believed, we turn into walking, talking, real-life aliens on earth. Is that so bad?
If you have not yet asked the Lord Jesus into your heart, please consider it now. He is waiting for YOU to ask Him. It does not matter what you have done. He will forgive you all of your sins and you will be welcomed into the family of God. If you have done this but, somewhere along the line, you strayed and think that He will not accept you back, you are wrong. He will! Please pray this prayer with me:
Father, I ask you to forgive my sins. Jesus, please come into my heart and live with me now. I know that You died for my sins on the cross, that You went to hell with those sins, left them there, rose again from the dead and are now sitting at the right hand of the Father. You have promised me that You are talking to God for me so that I am accepted by Him through You. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. I dedicate my life fully to You. I ask that You fill me to overflowing with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You, Lord. You are my life and salvation. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
If you prayed that prayer with me, welcome to the family of God! The first thing to do now is find a local church to go to. Get out that dusty Bible that has been sitting on the shelf far too long. If you do not have one, you can purchase one. If you cannot afford one, please check with your local churches. Many will help by supplying a Bible. And now, may the Peace of God be in your heart and life. Enjoy the walk of an alien in a foreign land!
